The 5th Reunion was held in Kluang from Sunday the 11th May until Wednesday 14th morning. The reunion this time was different to previous events in that there was no fixed programme and an unknown attendance. The concept was turn up at the Prime City Hotel at 12 midday on the 11th May. Although I did have some knowledge of a number of the attendees beforehand, it was a pleasant surprise to see more than anticipated turn up for the event including quite a number of first timers. Actually, many of the group had in fact turned up on the Saturday or before.

Saturday evening saw us at Barney's for dinner and they managed to squeeze us in to a packed restaurant as it was Mother's Day weekend menu. The following day was spent meeting others as they arrived for the official meeting at midday. Dinner was in the Hotel Restaurant. Usual last minute panic was also taking place for the Camp visit which had to rescheduled to Monday as Tuesday was a public holiday. As in previous years, the authorities in the camp were unaware of the visit but stepped up at the last minute to grant approval.

Monday morning saw most of us take a coach to the camp and as in previous years 881 Regiment did a really good job in making us welcome and gave us a good look around. The tour this year included a trip to the Control Tower and some tea and snacks in the pilot's crew room. On the way back to the hotel we we taken to the old Garrison Church and the swimming pool.

Tuesday a number of the group set off to Mersing by coach for a day excursion. After lunch and a look around we returned to Kluang.

Check out was Wednesday morning and some continued to other destinations in Malaysia and Thailand while others returned home. From the remarks, everyone had a great time and there was calls for a repeat in 2017.
