---TOP SECRET--- OPERATION TIGER - DEBRIEF The operation to destroy the enemy cache of "Tiger" got off to a bad start when the team were deceived by a red-herring. The enemy had left a decoy in the form of Carlsberg to confuse any attempt to destroy the real target.
It was not until around 1900 hours on Sunday evening that the real target was identified, stashed behind a counter in the Bistari Bistro outside of the hotel. Meanwhile the mistake in attempting to destroy the decoy target had left the team with a bad taste in their mouths. Fortunately a team of (ex)Army Nurses were on hand to administer treatment where needed. Despite best efforts by all, only half of the "Tiger" was destroyed on the first night. During the evening, Liz Ashworth presented a print of her Tiger painting to the Operation in celebration of the partial success.
The following day, most of the team were dispatched to Malacca at 0900 hrs in order to recuperate in time to complete the mission later in the day. They returned to Kluang at 1845, just in time to commence the search for the remaining "Tiger"
That evening, to the backdrop of music from the Kuala Lumpur based "Purevibracion", the remainder of the "Tiger" was found hidden behind a counter near the Poolside on the 6th floor of the hotel and was quickly destroyed. This resulted in a certain amount of exuberance which in turn lead to several members getting their kit off.
The visit was rounded off with a trip to the Gurkha Cemetery then later in the afternoon, a squad marched to the Lambak Microwave station to relay the message of a successful mission back to command.
The final morning was spent repacking kit and equipment and saying farewell to fellow team members. All in all, the operation was a complete successs. HOME |
